wandering

There’s something about wandering in the wilderness.

It brings you to a strange yet familiar place. Distractions fade, cell phones, TVs, computers, everything that creates so much noise in our lives are stripped away and we’re left in quiet. Everything we think we’re dependant on goes away and we’re left naked, face to face with God.

There’s something strange about the kind of quiet that only exits in the forest. In the midst of such stillness there’s obvious motion. Something moves out there. It’s not the kind of motion that we can create in a concrete jungle or an L.A. freeway. It’s much more subtle and a whole lot more genuine. It’s the kind of motion that moves the most restless of souls and it simply must move you.

Let the rivers clap their hands in glee! Let the hills sing out their songs of joy
_Psalm 98.8

I heard the clapping and the song and it was the sound of silence.
