A Christ Pattern Prayer for Holy Saturday

Tonight we wait, watching out the window for the darkness to be overcome by the light of day. We've walked with you from your birth, the day when the threat to Caesar was born in a manger amongst poor Galileans in a foreign land, to your horrible death, when you turned our whole conception of power upside down. We've danced with you to the rhythm of your life, hearing the song of forgiveness on your lips. We walked with you into the desert and chose God's way there with you. We entered the lives of the oppressed and watched their healing there through you. We walked in the fields and heard your words of liberation and hope, good news to the poor, there with you. By your Holy Spirit we've carried and died upon the cross with you. And this night we wait in hopeful anticipation that there is resurrection on the other side. Tonight we wait, watching to see if you have led us astray. Tonight we wait and by your Spirit we believe that our work in you is not in vain. May your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Come Lord, come. Amen.

"I want to know Christ and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of sharing in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death..." (Philippians 3:10).
