new or just forgotten?

I got this quote from Teresa's Blog:

"There is nothing new except what has been forgotten."
_ Marie Antoinette

Ours is the task of taking up what might have otherwise been lost. It is old, yes, and maybe a little dusty because there is "nothing new under the sun" but to us it is fresh and beautiful and we wonder how on earth it was ever lost. It may also be our task to leave behind some of the dry things that have lost meaning which have been passed down to us. We make these decisions not just for us but for our children because it is our responsibility to decide what we should pass on to them.

There are things we need to recover for them that have been lost and there are things that we should not pass on. This has been the struggle for Christians throughout church history.

Isn't this a metaphor and a reminder to never to lose sight of the Easter message of resurrection? God's ways in our world are wonderful and mysterious.

O God of unchangeable Power and eternal Light: Look favorably on Your whole Church, that wonderful and sacred mystery; by the effectual working of Your providence, carry out in tranquillity the plan of salvation; let the whole world see and know that things which were cast down are being raised up, and things which had grown old are being made new, and that all things are being brought to their perfection by Him through Whom all things were made, Your Son Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
